ILR - Long Residence or SET(M)?

Hi all, first of all thank you in advance for all your opinions and advice.

I will be applying for ILR in a few months time. I will be eligible for 10 years long residence soon and my FLR(M) will also be expiring around the same time.

1. What I'd like to know is does one have better chance than the other?

2. Can I apply for SET(LR) in stead of SET(M)? The reason for this is because my partner who is a British citizen has lost his job recently and we are both relying solely on my income at the moment. I'm just worried my partner not having a job will lower my chances of being successful in SET(M). Would that be a big problem?

Having said that, I'm also currently leaning towards the SET(M) at the moment because if i managed to get an appointment through PEO, i can get it over with very quickly but at the same time i'm worried about my chances because of my partner's unemployment.

What are your thoughts guys? Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you all.

I would say set(m) using the settlement checking service (click) or premium PEO. It does not matter if the 'sponsor' is working, if the applicant is, and is able to adequately maintain and accommodate.

Thank you very much indeed for your reply Amber. One other question though, I have been looking around immigration advisors' websites and some of them offers same day fast track application for SEt(M) where they will represent me. Are these genuine at all?

Again do not bother with solicitors unless your case is unusually complex. Even if you wish to use the premium service (a PEO appointment) for a 'same day decision', use the SCS first before you go and they should ensure you have no issues. The postal service using the SCS is making decisions in as fast as 3 weeks.
