ILR - days out of UK

Dear memebers,
My friend is going to apply for ILR soon.
He is on tier 1 General Visa
Little question, my friend stopped at airport for no reason, immigration officer said he is not satisfied with the answers, like he was asked when did you come in this country, how did you get Tier 1 etc and kept his passports and gave him temporary admission and ask him to come back for interview, he went but sent back saying there is no interview booked today, come back another day, then issued another temporary admission. after 4 and half months he got phone call from heathrow that where would you like to have your passports posted.
the entry stamp should be the day he landed at airport but it was 4 and half months later.
He is confused will this period be counted like he is out of Uk.? Because on every temporary admission it says "within the meaning of immigration Act 1971 you are not granted entry to Uk" But his visa was not cancelled or detained etc.
Please help what could be the possible effects?
