Hi

I am partly qualified chartered accountant and currently on Tier 2 (G) salary B/W £21,000 To £25,000. I got Tier 2 (G) in April 2009. I am planning to apply for ILR In March 2014. I just had a look at SOC Code list and found that SOC list has changed since then and SOC 2010 Description. My SOC Code has always been this 2421 which as chartered account so no problem with that as it stays same in new one as well , only have TWO concerns that

1- Old Soc code list used to mention part1 ,part 2 or fully qulaified ACCA but new one doesnt. How it will effect me?

2- New Soc list has new threshold, For new Entrants = £20,300 and for Experienced = £26,300

Now my salary is Above New Enrants(£20,300) Threshold BUT Below Experienced (£26,300). How much should be mine???

Also they have mentioned if someone applied under rules before 2011 apply then it should be £19,900. so does it means I AM SAFE or should EXPERIENCED threshold apply to me. Below is the COPY of NEW SOC CODE Description.

2421 Chartered and certified accountants
Example job tasks:
 plans and oversees implementation of accountancy system and policies;
 prepares financial documents and reports for management, shareholders, statutory or other
bodies;

 liaises with management and other professionals to compile budgets and other costs;
 prepares periodic accounts, budgetary reviews and financial forecasts;
 conducts investigations and advises management on financial aspects of productivity, stock
holding, sales, new products, etc.
Related job titles:
Accountant (qualified)
 Auditor (qualified)
 Chartered accountant
 Company accountant
 Cost accountant (qualified)
 Financial controller (qualified)
 Management accountant (qualified)

Salary rates: New entrant: £20,300 / Experienced: £26,300
* [or £19,900 for applicants who entered Tier 2 under the Rules in place before 6 April 2011 and are
not subject to the experienced worker rate]

Could seniors and gurus through some light.

Best Regards

Your should be that of experienced unless you are exempted. As per the information you have provided it seems you are exempted.
Also , there is still some time why don't you ask your employer to pay you minimum required for your job code ?

Thanks for your reply. as you said As per the information I have provided it seems you are exempted. Above seem that I am exempted. In fact the information i copied from NEW SOC CODE list Published in July 2013. What I was thinking if it CLEARLY says and MEANS £19,900 threshold for whoever applied before 2011 Rules in place then I am safe. By the way i got your point of increasing salary to Experienced level but this is something which you could not always do it easily. as well as it is difficult to go back in past and increase salary retrospectively.

Agree? Any one else's Point of View on it?

How less is it considering £26,300? Annual hikes are permitted. If it is 1-2 thousand less then it isn't a problem and you don't have to get it done retrospectively.
