Hi seniors, I'm sorry if someone has already asked this question in the post. I am applying for my ILR in December as the spouse of a British Citizen and i have an overdraft facility and my balance is always minus. Since I am the only earning member in the family. Will it affect my ILR application? Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Providing you can adequately maintain and accommodate yourselves, there is not a problem with using an overdraft facility.

Thanks very much for a quick reply. I mean to say that in every month bank statement. Money out surpasses the money in into my account. Will it be a problem?

That should be ok providing you have earnings coming in.

Hi jara777, I hope by now you have your ILR. Can you please let me know if being in negative on your bank statement caused any problems during the process?

Thank you

Hi Mobeenkhan, Not at all. Got my ILR without a problem.
Are you going to apply anytime soon?

Hi jara777, Thanks for the reply. Yes I'll be applying for my ILR next month. I do have more than £3000 in my savings account but my Personal Account (where the salary comes), it's been in overdraft for a very long time (maybe 2 years and more) as I never bothered bringing it back into positive. But, now I'm just a bit concerned, as the overdraft is quite big (around £2000). And my wife is applying with my as a dependent. So, I was a bit worried about it ...

TBH I have more than that. I don't think it will cause any problem as long as the money coming to your account is accountable.

Hi Mobeenkhan,

How did your ILR application go? I have the same problem (large overdraft paid back monthly but no savings account).

Thanks
