ILR requirements for Tier-1 General (Unemployment Period)

HI All,
I have been following this forum and have read the ILR FAQs as well, so hopefully I am not asking a repetitive question.
I came in this country on Tier-1 General. For the first 8 months, I didnt have any employment. After 8 months, I did get a job, but the joining date was 3 months later, so technically I was without job for over 11 months.
Now, I called up UKBA and they said that I need to present an evidence which proves that I was looking out for job during this period. They suggested that I should present email communications for applying to job, companies job interview invite letters, employers rejection letter etc.
The idea is to prove that I was looking out for job for that period (if I claim I was unemployed) otherwise it defeats the purpose of coming here on Tier-1 General. While producing such documents is not totally impossible for me, but I was wondering whether anyone else faced similar issue?
Appreciate your help.
Thanks and Regards,
K
