Absence calculation on weekends only

Hi Guys,

A question about the absences that are only on weekends. If my partner and child live in EU and I go to visit them every (or most) weekends, is this going to breach the allowed absence regulation?

The total absences within a consecutive 12 months would still < 180 days. But the absence in weekend could not be justified as paid leave I suppose, and I feel it might be difficult also to justify every (or most) weekends' family union as a compelling or serious reason?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Best Regards

Hi, anyone has any idea about this?

There is no exception for weekends not to be counted as absence.

However the day you depart and day you come back are not counted as absence.

eg:

Depart 5th - Arrive back 6th = zero days absence

Depart 5th - Arrive back 7th = 1 day absence

Depart 5th - Arrive back 8th = 2 days' absence

and so on.....

Thanks for the nice suggestion, so I just need to leave at Saturday early morning and come back before Sunday midnight, doable.

If zero days are there for an absence period, do I need to fill it in the absence sheet at all? Consider there will be UK inbound stamps and EU countries' inbound/outbound stamps on my passport.

Yes, fill the details even when effective absences are for zero days.
