Hi,
I'm due to apply for ILR in June 2014. I have MA from University of Surrey and BA from India. Is my MA sufficient to prove my knowledge of English language or do I need to go through NARIC route for the BA?
Wasn't sure they if considered only Bachelor as seemed To remember that was the case two years ago.
Thanks

Masters degree from UK is enough to prove knowledge of English. You don't need to recognise it from NARIC.

1=According to Home Office:
Degrees taught in English
Those who have obtained a degree taught in English will not be required to show a formal
speaking and listening qualification.
Those with an academic qualification (not a professional or vocational qualification) who provide
appropriate evidence that the qualification was taught or researched in English are considered
automatically to meet the English language component of the KoLL requirement and will not be
required to show a formal speaking and listening qualification. The qualification must be deemed
by UK NARIC to meet the recognised standard of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or PhD in the
UK. However, they will still be required to pass the Life in the UK test to demonstrate their
knowledge of life in the UK.
2=According to NARIC
What is the English Language Assessment service?
English is the official language of the United Kingdom. The ability to speak English to a competent level is essential to ensure successful integration and progression in the UK. The English Language Assessment service is available to individuals who need to demonstrate their English language proficiency (Tier 1 and Tier 2) as set out by the Home Office.
There are three ways that you can score points for English language:
be a national of a majority English speaking country (a country where most people speak English)
pass an English language test on the Home Office list of approved English language tests
hold a degree that is assessed by UK NARIC as being taught in English and is equivalent to a United Kingdom Bachelor degree.
