ILR and cautions

My wife is due to renew her IRL in December 2015, last week she received a simple caution, I now understand that it is now mandatory to refuse an application unless the offence happened 24 months before the application. When the application is due, it will be only 18 months. It does say on the UK Border website that you can extend your stay until such time you can comply with requirement. How do you extend your application to stay, until she meets the 24 months rule

Assuming she is here on spouse leave (not PBS dep) then she needs to complete FLR(M).

She came on Fiancee visa, and then changed to FLR when married, which lasts for 30 months, she then as to apply for a further 30 months in December 2015, i persume on a further FLR. So in reality if she is only applying for FLR then the caution wouldnt make a difference as she in not applying for ILR any ideas
