From spouse visa to ILR for student.

Hello forum. I hoping to get advice on a complicated situation. I married my husband whilst he was on a post graduate visa in June 2012 and he went on to apply for a spouse visa which he got (27 months). Before we married I was in the process of looking for accommodation for university and got it and the lease is only in my name. Due to his work commitments he stayed in our old town , which is an hour away, but got a smaller apartment and we spent the majority of our time living between the two addresses. In June 2013, we didn't renew his lease and he registered for council tax for the home under my lease and went on to start a post graduate course (self sponsorship) in another town. I am now worried that we might not have enough evidence to show cohabitation for the last two years when he applies for ILR in November. We only have a joint account in both our names (only 18 months) and our separate accounts, drivers licences and GP are under this address. Apart from that he gas and broadband are under his name. Are these enough for evidence or are we better of looking for an extension on his current visa?
PS I am a naturalised UK citizen.
