ILR - Train fare issue

Hi All,
This is great forum for immigration help advice and I must congratulate all the people who are working/advising to keep it going. You guys are doing great job ..
I had a very quick question... I am on tier 1 visa and still have 2 years to go for my ILR application. Just 10 days back we had a small problem. My wife got sick while she was at work ..( eye infection ) ..and she took an appointment at her GP ..and since it was a same day appointment ..so she was in a rush to leave work and reach the GP ..this on top of her constantly watery eyes due to infection ...and she somehow missed touching the oyster card while entering the DLR station ..where there are no barriers to enter ..just touch-in/out kiosk .. she said she did touch it ..but obviously she somehow messed it up. Unfortunately she was caught by one of the ticket inspectors and she did not say much and paid the 40 pounds fine right away at spot and got this penalty fare notice issued to her in her name. She paid by her debit card so obviously they will have her details as well. She did not knew if there would be any implications of it ..and hence she did not care much for it. We realized it over the weekend that it might have some issue when we apply for the ILR. So that's what is my question... does anybody thinks that it might cause any issue when we apply for our ILR in two years time.
fortunately the notice says that we can appeal to them within 21 days ..so does somebody thinks that it is good idea to appeal to DLR guys explaining the situation which caused her to miss the touch-in. We do have prescription written from our GP for the day which shows the eye medicine pointing out that she did have issue with her eyes on that day. We would like to do that only if we think that the accepting the fine will mean problem in our ILR application and not for the 40 pounds she paid.
Please somebody can advice in the situation..we just have 7 more days left to appeal.
thanks in advance for your help.
