Need Help regarding Income threshold for Wife dependant visa

Dear All,
just a quick question i have to apply for my wife dependent visa and as per my understanding i have to show £18600 as income to apply for her visa.
all my income is from self employment and my gross income is around £38,000 but after deducting all the expenses and other cost my net income is around £15000 and i am just wondering will my gross income will be considered to meet the financial requirements or my net income ???? and if its net income than i am £3600 short and what are the possible ways to cover this shortfall.
any suggestion will be appreciated.
