Hi,

I was granted a 4 years student visa from 2004 to 2008.
Then, I was granted a 1 year IGS visa which expired on 18 Jun 2009.

I was on holiday from 21 March 2009 and came back to the UK on 19 Jun 2009.
Because the IGS had expired for one day and I am a non-visa national, I was granted
6 months leave to enter. Was my continuous residence broken? I.e. I left UK while having IGS but entered again with the 6 months leave?

Time spent outside the UK
Continuous residence is not considered broken if the applicant:

1. is absent from the UK for 180 days or less at any one time, and
2. had existing leave to enter or remain when they left and when they returned – this can
include leave gained at port when returning to the UK as a non visa national, see

Then, I got an employer sponsorship. I flew back to my home country on 22 Sep 2009, applied for Tier-2 and arrived back in the UK on 24 Oct 2009. Similarly, was my continuous residence broken? I left UK while having the 6 months leave and entered again under Tier-2?
