Impact of covering letter on application

Hi,

Its understood that covering letter is optional. But to what extent a covering letter explaining briefly about the application if attach with especially long residency application play a role on the speed or the result of application? And how many pages or page can be ideal? Can people share their thoughts or experience about it.

A 9 on page 28 of Set (O) refers to putting extra information about income on the covering letter. It seems they do read it when you give one provided it is giving extra information to clear any ambiguities.

And why caseworker donot return cover letter with documents?

Because the letter is specifically addressed to the HO with additional information, so why should they return it to the applicant? If you want a copy, make one before you send the application.
