I am applying for ILR in the near future.

Will they retain my existing BRP at the appointment?

I am planning a trip soon after and my ILR BRP may not have reached me by then. I am thinking of using my Tier 1 BRP if that is possible, as it will still be valid when I return.

Once you are granted ILR your old BRP card will be retained by the Home Office and you have to wait for your new BRP before you can travel.
