3 Months Short of 10 Years Long Residency

Need bit of advice. I am trying to get ready in well advance for my long residency application.
Entry Clearance 22/09/2006
Entered UK 06/10/2006
Currently on t1 ent. Which expires 01/07/2016
I will be completing my 10 years on 06/10/2016. I am getting very curious about this that how will i be bridging my gap.
I am currently on tier1 visa with 3 years leave to remain. I know someone will suggest to go for extension, but i do not want to file for extension to cover this gap as i will not be able to provide the evidence of funds invested under tier 1 which in my personal opinion may subsequently lead to deception (is it actually possible they put up deception or they will simply refuse the extension application on the basis that i cannot earn 25 points i guess for evidence of investment?).
Can anyone please advise how to approach this as i do have sufficient time to get ready for this.
Your help and advice will be much appreciated.
