What visa for dependants (after July 2012)

I will be applying for my ILR this coming June 2015. I am currently under Tier 2 (General). My husband is my dependant and he came to UK last January 2013, so it means he has to complete 5 years to be eligible for his own ILR. I switched emplyers so we both still got visa until Feb 2016. Since I will be applying for my ILR soon, what visa can my husband apply? Can we leave the application until before Feb 2016- that will mean that his visa is "dependant of tier 2 " which doesnt look right anymore because I will be having my ILR by then. Or do we need to apply for another visa for him same time when I will apply for my ILR. If yes, what visa ? The reason why I am asking this is because we dont have money ywt to apply for the 2 of us. but if he has to apply, then we'll just have to borrow money somewhere. Thanks in advance peeps!

If you are applying for ILR based on Tier 2 and 5 years residence, the your dependent can remain on T2 dep and can continue to extend as Tier 2 dependent until he meets the 5 year residence requirement.

So you mean, he can stay as tier 2 dependent even if I am ILR? What application form he needs to fill up ? I assume its no longer tier 2 PBS dependant because I will not be tier 2 by then. And can we leave the application until about December this year ( his visa will expire Feb 2016) or we need to apply at the same time even if be still got visa?Thank you for your quick response by the way

He can use the PBS dependent form and should ideally apply shortly before his current visa expires, either in person or a postal application, and within 28 days of expiry is the norm.
He will also have to pay the new NHS surcharge (£200 per year) payable upfront, at point of application, for the duration of visa extension. So probably a 2 year extension will be £400.
