ILR Refusal - How long can I get back my documents

Thanks very much for such a great forum!

My ILR application as a dependant of Tier 2 General is refused in a PEO office.
The reason for refusal is I need to spend 5 years in total as a DEPENDANT visa of the main applicant.
My past 5 years has a combination of Tier 1 (PSW) and Tier 2 Dependant.

The caseworker said I needed to apply for the extension of Tier 2 Dependant.

I made my application in person so they returned my passport and my current BRP back on the same day of the application. However, they kept all my other original documents in case I want administrative review of the decision within 14 days.

I don't want to waste time for administrative review as I heard it won't be successful as all other similar cases have the same decision.

I wrote a letter to the PEO office for asking my original documents back. However, I haven't heard anything back after a week.

My questions are as follows.
1. Anyone knows how long the HO will keep my documents for? Must it be 14 days after or even longer?
2. Anyone knows my decision of NOT going to the admin review process is the right decision? Any chances for getting the ILR if going with the admin review process?

Many thanks in advance!

My questions are as follows.
1. Anyone knows how long the HO will keep my documents for? Must it be 14 days after or even longer? They will keep documents for at least 14 days incase you want to submit Admin review. If you are not willing to submit admin review, you can email
Admin.Review.Enquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

With below details and request documents back.

Full Name:
Date of Birth:
Nationality:
Passport number:
Home Office Reference number:
Visa Number
Case ID:

2. Anyone knows my decision of NOT going to the admin review process is the right decision? Any chances for getting the ILR if going with the admin review process? On the basis of refusal, i think it is the right decision to request documents back and apply for dependant extension instead. There does not seem to be an error in decision making by caseworker based on info you have provided.
