Tier 2 to ILR: Employer letter date

I am due to apply for ILR mid March (PEO application).
I am currently on Tier 2 visa (from 2nd April 2012).
I have just got notification from HR that my employment and absences letter is ready and is posted to me by internal mail.
It means that the letter will be dated by today's date (Feb 20th), while I will be applying in person 3 weeks later.
Does anyone know if these letters can be dated 3-4 weeks before the application, or there is any shorter period before the application that the letter should be dated?
