Was just look for some advice, or even just an opinion.
I have currently 10 year permanent residence card, which expires in a few years time. I guess I'll need to re-apply for another (or apply for citizenship), but I worried that my reapplication for permanent residency may be affected because I have wracked up some significant financial debt, been in and out of work and have issues with tax authority. Do these things get taken in account when reapplying for permanent residence? I saw that citizenship looks at 'good character' things but wasnt sure what criteria is used for permanent residence. I also do not understand difference between permanent residence and ILR.

Some background... I got my original residency as my husband at the time had a french passport. We are now divorced, but neither of us are originally from EEA.

You only apply for a new CARD. The card expires, like a drivers license. It is not a whole new PR application.

Yes. The card will simply need to be renewed again (if you don't apply for citizenship). Personal features change as you get older. It is not the status that is lost (assuming you don't leave the UK for 2 or more years).
