ILR Tier 2 General 5 years Qualifying Period

Hi,
I am new to this forum and seeking advise from the respected members on ILR qualifying period of 5 years.
My BRP (tier 2 General) was issued in Feb 2012 in the UK (switched from Tier 4 student). However, I actually started working for my employer in July 2012. When does my 5 year qualifying period completes. Will it be from date of issue of my BRP or from start of my job (July 2012).
A prompt response will be much appreciated because I have booked an appointment and may get my application refused if my interpretation of UKBA guidance not correct.
Thank you in advance.
