ILR qualifying period spouse- visa obtained before July2012

Thank you for great information available on this forum. I will be grateful if someone can help with the following query.
I have been granted visa as a PBS partner in April 2012 and came to UK in September 2012. My partner who's Tier 2 general immigrant qualifies (5 years) soon, I read on the UKVI website that as I have been granted my visa as partner of PBS immigrant before rules changed in July 2012, my qualifying period for ILR is 2 years NOT 5 years. As rules is related to date when the visa was granted not my arrival. Is my understanding correct that my qualifying period for ILR is 2 years and as such can apply with my partner qualifies? Advise is much appreciated.
