Hi All,
Here is my timeline for visas;
09/2008 -08/2013 Student visa
08/2013 - 03/2014 DES (Tier 4)
03/2014 - 05/2017 Tier 2
05/2017 - 12/2019 Tier 2 extended with the same employer

I will be completing my 10 years next year in September and 5 years on Tier 2 in March 2019. I was wondering, what is the best way to apply for ILR, shall I go for 10 years route or 5 years?

Also, my wife got Tier 2 (Dependent) visa in 08/2014 but she joined me in 11/2014. Will the route I take to apply for ILR have any impact on her ILR's application in future? Keeping this in mind which route you would suggest for my ILR application?

If you apply for ILR based on long residence, your wife will have to apply on FLR(M) spouse visa which will reset her clock to zero and a new 5 year route (2 x 2.5 year visas) before she will qualify for ILR. She will not able to combine her dependent visa time with the FLR(M) time for ILR based on 5 years.

Thanks, CR001. so it is better to wait few more months and apply based on Tier 2 then.

Yes as she need 5 years - 28 days to apply for ILR as tier 2 dependent, which will be November 2019.
