TIER 2 VISA EXPIRING AND NEED TO APPLY FOR ILR

Hi, I first arrived in the UK as a student on the 12/09/06. Having completed my degree, I have been working here as a doctor, first on a Tier 4 visa and currently on a Tier 2 visa. My current visa expires on the 20/08/17 and I haven't had a chance to book an appointment before this date. I have managed to secure an appointment for the 09/09/17 for ILR using the SET (LR) form, via the premium service. Do think this should be OK? Slightly concerned!

You should apply before your visa expires.
Have you tried all of the premium centres?

Then you will need to apply by post.
If you apply after your visa expires, you are not allowed to work or use the NHS.

What about the 28 day grace period?

There is no 28 day grace period. It has been reduced to 14 days but is not for when you cannot get an appointment as you can still apply by post, it is for specific circumstances, but it does not mean your visa conditions continue. If you apply after your visa expires, you cannot work.

Thank you so much for your responses. Is there anyway to book a Premium appointment for ILR applications in urgent situations like mine? Is it possible to get same say appointments?

No there is not. You will need to keep checking for any day and any time, including Saturdays, to see if there is an appointment available, provided you are not fussy about time etc.
You have limited time to cancel your appointment to receive a refund of the premium fee.

Also, I forgot to mention that my husband is British.. does that make a difference at all in terms of staying or applying for the ILR after the expiry date?

Since your lasts posts in May this year, you should probably have started planning accordingly. If you cannot get an appointment in time, you will need to apply by post.
