Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding to Tier 2 to ILR. I came to UK in 20th Oct 2012 with Tier 2 visa, so I am entitled to apply for ILR after 25th Sept 2017 (4 years and 11 months). My current contract will end in 30th Sept 2017. I already got an new offer from different company starting from 1st Oct 2017. I was wondering if I can apply for ILR in the end of Sept and then start my new job in Oct? In order to apply for ILR, I need the letter from current Tier 2 sponsor to prove that they still need me in the near future, but my current contract will end in 30th Sept, so they are not going to prove that. I already ask the new company provide the letter for me, but I am still not sure if that's okay. If anyone can help me with the question, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Liang

If you have not got a tier 2 visa with the new sponsor, you cannot use their letter. You will have to switch visas/sponsors first and then apply for ILR.

Hi CR001,

If I got a letter from current Tier 2 sponsor, but I am not going to work for them. Is it okay to use their letter? Thank you very much.

If you have the letter that states that they need you for the foreseeable future, then yes you can use it.
