Tier 2 to ILR

Hello,
End of last month I have completed 10 years in UK. Planning to apply for ILR, however I wanted to share my immigration history to see if anyone had or experienced the same issue I have to deal with.
Landed in UK - Sep 2007 on student Visa (Registered at university but never completed my Masters at that university!!)
First Student visa extension in 2009 - I have rejoined different university to complete my Masters obtained COS
In order to apply for extension someone has suggest that I need to let homeoffice know what I was doing for first 18months. To cover my first 18 months I have submitted college certificates confirming I was doing Advance Diploma (Fake college). Along with that I have submitted my COS that is given my University.
Successfully, got my student visa without any issues.
Second Extension - Another student extension,
I had to do another student extension - During this my application was rejected due bank statements(Print out statements submitted which was missing bank officer signature) didn't match UKBA requirements. Had to go for appeal and which was successful and got my visa.
Third Extension - PSW, no issues here
Fourth - Switch to Tier 2 all visa process is looked after by employer, till date
Question I have is, because I have submitted a fake degree as backup saying I was studying between (2008 - 2009) would that cause me any problem for 10 years application. Just to clarify I have not used that certificate to obtain any visa extension?
OR
Would it be better for me to wait and apply under Tier 2 5 years route (which will be next year November)?
Thanks.
