Hello everyone ,Im looking for a bit of advice as I am due to apply for ilr in a month .I came to the UK in 2006 to live with my father at the age of 15.I came here with work permit dependant visa for four years. After that I received 2x discretionary live to remain; 3 years each .I have been in this country for 11 years .I am due to apply next month .in between the 2x discretionary leave I have gone to university and have been workin.I fell
Pregnant last year July and I was put on bed rest by my doctor as my pregnant was complicated .i was put on bed rest from Nov 16-march 17 .I delivered my baby earlier than the due date and he was hospitalised for 4 weeks before coming home in march .Due to the bed rest; I was unable to work and applied for housing benefit, council tax reduction .After the baby came ,I have also been received child tax credit and workin tax credit .My baby's dad holds ILR.The discretionary leave i currently hold does not say anythin about public funds .Its jus written residence permit and the letter that came with the visa says that I am free to use local authorities and social services as I need them.Is there anyone out here who knows wether these benefits I have been receiving will get my application rejected .

Hi,

I just made an update to my post regarding this, i'll link it for you, but according to
DL Guidance
Asylum Policy Instruction
Discretionary Leave
Version 7.0
Published: 18 August 2015
Section 4, 4.3 on page 14
(click it)

It does state that those granted DL have recourse to public funds. Furthermore i would add that check you visa documents and see if it states the "No Recourse to public funds" condition. If it does not, the i think the general idea is that you would not breach immigration rules for claiming benefits.

I would like to link this post as i think it is relevant and please read this as it will give you a better understanding, Maybe. Click here and click here.

I hope this helps. Also, if you read the paragraph 6 immigration rules click here this will give you a better idea of what is clarified as public funds and what might not come under public funds.
