Qualifying period for ILR application - query

HI, I am assisting my daughter and family apply for indefinite leave to remain under UK Ancestry visa route. I am concerned about the timeframe for when they should apply.
Their visas were granted (in South Africa) on 15/11/2012, they entered the UK on 07/12/2012 on leave to remain. Their visas expire therefore o nthe 15/12/2017

They have spent a total of 25 days out of the UK for personal reasons to see family members.

I am planning on posting their application for ILR to reach Gov.uk visa processing as close as possible to 15/11/2017

Will this be valid?
They meet all other criteria. I am just concerned about the time they spent out of the UK and the date they should apply for ILR.

Time spent outside the UK is fine.
Their visas expire therefore o nthe 15/12/2017
I am guessing this is a typo and you mean 15/11/2017??

They must APPLY before the expiry date. It does not have to REACH HO by the expiry date.

If they have extra money, they could apply in person for a same day decision too.

Hopefully the main Ancestry visa holder has been working in the UK during their stay??

Thanks for you reply.
We are now waiting for formal acknowledgement [reference number} of application - they have taken the visa fees and app docs have been with them about 10 days [counting from when they took the fees]
Then I believe we can monitor status of application online.
