ILR for Tier 2 dependent co-habitancy documents

Hi All,

My wife ( and 1 year old daughter) will apply for ILR soon based on Tier 2 dependent route.
I have a question on the co-habitancy documents. We do not have any joint bank accounts. The council tax and water bills have both my and wife's name there. Water bill seems OK, but council tax bill (online document) does print her name properly (unreadable). Is it mandatory to provide a document with both of our name on it?. We do have separate bank accounts and mobile phone contracts. Our rental agreement has both our names on it but we are on month to month basis from Feb 2016. So it is dated more than 2 years back.

Is there a home office link explaining the co-habitancy documents requirements ?

Hi All,

As I explained earlier, the web bill of council tax does not print her full name. So I talked to them and they send the paper bill. Got it yesterday. It is worse, first of all it had the date of last week so I cannot really use it , second, only first name is printed.

My scenario is like this say my wife's name is

Catherine ZetaBitLong Jones

Passport has her first name as : Catherine ZetaBitLong
Lastname : Jones

Provisional driving license, Credit card, Home Insurance have Catherine ZetaBitLong Jones
Water bill, Mobile phone contract, Current account, Her salary slips all have Catherine Jones
Council tax bill (Web): Catherine Z Jo ( The 'Jo' printed slightly on top of the date)
Council tax bill (Paper, newly ordered): Catherine

Applying on PEO for my wife and daughter using Set (O) form (Tier 2 dependent) on March 9th

So I am planning to submit the following documents From 2016 March to 2018 March.

March 2016 - Council Tax Bill ( My name + Wife's first name )
April 2016 - Home Insurance (Addressed to Both )
June 2016 - Poll cards for referendum (Individual)
July 2016 - Water bill (Addressed to Both )
September 2016 - Bank statement (Individual)
December 2016 - Water Bill ( Addressed to both)

March 2017 - Council Tax Bill ( My name + Wife's first name )
April 2017 - Home Insurance (Addressed to Both )
June - Mobile Phone (Contract) bills (Individual)
July 2017 - Water bill (Addressed to Both )
September-Oct 2017 - Bank statement (Individual)
December 2017 - Water Bill ( Addressed to both)

Full driving license (Mine)
Provisional driving license (Wife's)

Hospital appointment letters from NHS for my daughter addressed to Parents of <<Daughter's name>>

It would be really helpful if someone can check the list of documents that I prepared for submission.

I will take couple of additional credit card bills, phone bills and current account statements, letters from letting agency (addressed to both).

List is fine.

Name issue on bills is not a problem.

ILR for Tier 2 dependent - Set O form clarifications

Hi All,

I just need some clarifications regarding the details filled in the Set O form. PEO date is March 9th, 2018.

Category: ILR for Tier 2 dependent . Set O.
Applying: My wife (main applicant) + 1 child

I got my ILR last month.

My wife was working until March 2nd,2018. Her job contract finished.

In Section 5 - Your home and finances

5.2 Do you or your partner, or both, pay any rent or mortgage for your home?
Rent comes out of my bank account. Should I submit a copy of my bank statement showing this rent?

5.3 Are you working in the UK? :
Is it OK to say 'Yes' because the bank statements show salary being credited.

Or should I say "No" as she is currently not working and mention about salary being credited in a covering letter.

Section 6 - Immigration history

We are listing all the absenses from the UK in 6.2. But what evidence should we provide in 6.3 ?
As far as I know we don't need to show any evidence as she is applying as Tier 2 dependent.

Section 13 - Consent for the Home Office to request verification checks
My wife has her bank account, credit cards and mobile phone contracts. It should be enough for them to do the checks , right ? Do I need to sign the 3rd party consent page as electricity and water is in my name?

For the application, I am providing
  • my wife's and daughter's BRP, Passports, 2+2 Photos
    Life in the UK Test
Trinity college - SELT B1 certificate
    3 months payslips
    3 months bank statement
Also, cohabbitancy documents listed in my previous post.

Sorry for that. The title was different that's why I started the new post. I will keep that in my mind. Sorry about that.

This is a bit tricky. The truth of the matter is that she has stopped working.
So the answer should be 'No'

They do not require an evidence of this but there is nothing wrong in taking it along.
If the Case worker needs, they might just ask for it.

So the answer should be 'No'. Like you suggested, a cover letter explaining that may just help the case worker clarify salary in the account.

To be honest, I am not sure but since you are including documents as part of cohabitation, I will suggest you sign it.

Sorry .... Just some last minute questions

Do I need to keep a copy of my ILR BRP with my wife's application ?

Should I include marriage certificate copy along with cohabitancy documents ?

Should I include birth certificate ( Child born outside the UK) copy along with cohabitancy documents ?

Not required. But It will be a good idea for her to take it along as well as your passport.
I have seen people on this forum saying they asked for the ILR holder passport.

If the address is outside UK, then it will not be needed.

Thank you so much for all the help.

The application went through fine. See my report

They asked us to provide original passport and ILR BRP of the ILR Holder. I had already placed a copy. They have taken all the copies of passports and BRPs also. I did not keep copies of marriage certificate or the birth certificate. But carried it to the centre. Also, I had copied other electronic documents on my phone in case if they wanted it. But did not ask anything more.
