How long can you stay outside the UK on ILR?

Hi all,

I know there is a 2 year rule if you stay outside the UK on ILR it can be revoked (https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -to-remain)

Just wondering if there are also other situations/cases where if people have been away for less than 2 years, the immigration control create issues?

I am working for a UK Company and I have an option to be based in their overseas office (between 1-2 years) while being on ILR. Would this be a problem? And also, if I keep regularly visiting the UK during this time, and maintain property here?

It is just a good career opportunity and I don't want to miss it - but I don't want to create issues for my ILR either :(

Many thanks,

Short visits do not maintain ILR. You need to satisfy the Immigration Officer that you are resident in the UK.

Do you plan to apply for British citizenship? Being absent for 1-2 years will likely postpone your ability to apply for British citizenship.
