Sponsor receiving HB

Hello all,

I hope my topic is in the right place.

I'm a British citizen and my Non-EU national husband is currently on his last 30 months(FLR) visa.

I'm currently receiving Housing Benefit. This is the only benefit I receive. I claimed it in my own right,( he has no recourse public funds of course) let my council know I'm married and living with my husband and claiming it for myself only. And I receive the correct amount, nothing extra for my husband. Until here it's all fine. I know I'm eligible to do this and it is my right.

However I'm very confused about the following; I am also the sponsor of my husband and as a sponsor of the applicant I should not rely on public funds to support my partner's accommodation needs. (I've read it a while ago in one of the guidances-(can't remember which)

Even though I'm not getting anything extra because he lives with me, he's still benefitting from my benefit( if that's correct to say!) by living with me.

This sponsoring issue is really confusing me. We still have 8 months until we apply for his ILR and I'm trying to find out and get clear about this.

I would appreciate if anyone knows anything about this.

Thanks so much
