Hi Everyone,

I came to the UK back in 2002 and my asylum application was refused.

However, since the year 2012 I've been given 6 years of DLR (2 x 3years) outside of immigration Rules.

I have a biometrics card.

The second DLR which is the current one is gonna expire in 24-08-2018. Which means I only got about 2 months to apply for ILR.

Questions that I have now are:

1- is this the correct form that i need to send to HO? If not, what form do I need to send?

2- There seems to be a huge fee that applies! £2389 !!!!!
There is no way in the world that I could afford to pay that. I mean physically, its impossible for me. I have a child who is 2 years old and I am a stay at home dad.

My partner is British and she works but her wages is not enough for everything. i.e. rent, bills, food, the child stuff etc etc... and that's why we get support and benefit from the government as well.

I looked into the fee waver option but it seems like the fee waver does not apply if you are applying for ILR!!!

where do they think someone like me with no family other than my 2 year old son and my partner going to get this type of money!?

As it stands, I feel like that i have no option and certainly no money!

So, with all that said, What can I do? what are my options if any?


Yet again, confused as always dealing with Home office and government!!!!!!


Can someone please advice on this issue as I am literally going crazy and pulling my hair out!!!

Yes you would use form SET(O)

If you cannot afford the ILR fees maybe a further extension of DLR with the fee waiver may be applicable to you and your circumstances.

Again, unfortunately as you have read also, there isn't any fee waiver wheb it comes to an application of ILR.

Thanks for the reply. Not entirely sure when. but it was sometimes around July (i think).

Applying for another extension of DLR is a possibility but that means another few years of not being able to travel, work etc...

The biometrics card that I have clearly says 'work permitted' but I have been let down getting jobs using this card. Pizza Hut and a couple of employment agencies turned me down and they clearly told me that they cannot accept this card as a form of work permit and they only accept a passport or a birth certificate!!

And Home Office knows about this kind of issue and yet they fail to do anything about it.

May I ask why aren't you or have been able to apply for a passport?

Your application for asylum was refused, as far as I understand and on the info you have provided I wouldn't see any restriction on you applying for your home countries passport through an embassy or consulate.

I' am very sorry to state, but I disagree with that statement, the onus is on the individual to practice due diligence and keep their paperwork in order.

I accept the home office don't help in a situation like this either. Again it is down to the individual companies policies in what they can accept as I.D.

I cannot get my "home country's passport" because they require me to finish my 2 years national service first and I haven't done that since I left my country when I was 16. and I was suppose to do my National service at 18.

I have called their Embassy in London and asked what I need to do and they told me that I need to pay a fee of £4500 which is a ridiculous amount of money. Especially when I have been struggling to find work in this country with the useless documents that I got from the HO.

Regarding your comment that i highlighted above, I have always provided correct documents and kept my paperwork in order!

However, the issue is not the paperwork being in order... The issue is that the useless documents that I have been given by the government has never helped me to find work!

This document is (the biometrics card) is a legal documents and cannot and should not be turned down by any employer in the UK.

It was not that i was turned down because i didn't have a particular skills set! The rejection was purely based on the fact that Pizza hut and the employment agencies didn't accept or know anything about the Biometrics card that I provided to them as a form of ID (I also have a 12 years old Full UK drivers license). and as far as I know, this rejection and the reason for it was/is illegal.

I submitted my FLR DL form for ILR. I already had a BRP card which I submitted with my form.

The question that I have is [do i need to go for ANOTHER BRP scanning etc?]
