Long stay vs tier 2 route - pros and cons?

Hello there,

My wife has been in on a tier 2 visa for 4 years and has been in the UK lawfully for 9 years. I was wondering if there are any advantages or disadvantages to applying for ILR based on 5 years on tier 2 vs 10 years continuous residence?

I ask because we are considering switching my wife from a tier 2 to a spousal visa which would obviously eliminate the tier 2 route. Many thanks in advance.

Jamie

Long Residence has less requirements than tier 2 and less documents. They both end in the same result.
