When does the 5 year period start for a [First rejected, then granted] Tier 2 (general)?

Hello,
I had applied for my Tier 2 (General) visa following the end of my T1 PSW in April 2014, but was rejected due to a salary calculation error. I did immediately reapply, upon receiving my Rejection letter, and was subsequently granted the Tier 2 (general) in July 2014.
My question is, is the start date of a tier 2 visa (and therefore the start of the 5 year period) considered to be;
a) the application date (as my PSW expired within 2 days of T2 application), or
b) is it the date the T2 was issued (as printed on the BRP)?
Thanks in advance.
