ILR via UK Ancestry - Bank Statements & Savings

Hi there,

I've just started researching to apply for my ILR via UK ancestry. I should've started this a lot earlier but when I get really stressed, I procrastinate... My visa expires May 8th 2019.

With this online application form, I can't seem to find any guidance before signing up to start filling it out? I read somewhere that you can only start filling out the application 70 days before your 28 day eligibility to apply, is this correct? I don't want to start the process way too early online if it will backfire on me.

I have a couple of questions regarding any savings. Basically I went on holiday last year and spent it, I have a minimal amount of savings but not the full amount to pay for my ILR visa outright. Do I need an amount of savings to show?

I know I need to provide bank statements showing my income, which is fine, but would I need to show my savings bank account? Is this a requirement that if I don't have savings I will be rejected? My income is enough to support my rent & bills and general lifestyle, I usually transfer money over to savings each month, but at the minute it doesn't look like I have much savings.

I'm from New Zealand, and I'm planning on paying for the visa via one of my NZ credit cards as I have NZ savings to cover it. Can you forsee any issue here? Is that a bad idea?

The other option was to transfer some of my NZ savings over to my UK bank account, would this negatively affect my application seeing a lump sum transferred over in my bank statements?

Have I screwed myself over by using my UK savings to go on holiday last year?

Cheers for any clarification!

You are over thinking.

No savings requirement for ILR from ancestry visa.

Emompyentb and salary bank statements is fine.

You can 0ay with any vis/mastercard etc.

You cannot start the form too early. It only remains active for a certain period.

Thank you for your response! I definitely think I needed to hear that I was overthinking everything.

I will read those links and try to calm down more.
