Hi there

I have applied for permanent residency after continuous living in the UK for 5 years on Tier 2 VISA, the same has been granted and the biometric residence card was issued to me with the following detail.

valid until: 31 Dec 2024.
type of permit: Settlement
Remarks Indefinite leave to Remain

My query is that what is the meaning of the valid until 31 Dec 2024. do I need to reapply for the ILR after 5 years can anybody please comment on it.

regards
Nadeem

2024 is the date the CARD expires, like a drivers licence for example. You simply renew the card if you are not planning to apply for citizenship. You don't apply for. ILR again.

December 2024 is the date the EU has set for all biometric documents to be updated with enhanced security features. Same as passport designs change.
