Applying for ILR after 5 years but before visa expires

I have read a number of topics here regarding when can you apply for ILR and basically rule of thumb is 28 days before you complete the 5 years. My entry clearance is October 2014 and I was able to further extend it until October 2020. So basically my 5th year anniversary is October 2019 but my question is Can I delayed my ILR application to January or February 2020? Or do I really need to apply on October 2019?
Thanks

Your choice. Before expiry would be okay, preferably with some time for any corrections of
errors.

Thanks Vinny for the reply. So basically you can apply after 5 years as long as your visa is still valid?

Just look at the expiry of your current BRP. You can apply 28 days before that regardless of you are over 5 years by that time. The earliest you can apply is when you hit 5th Anniversary from your initial date though.
