Inquiry of employment letter for ILR application from Tier 2

Hi All,
I'm going to apply my ILR in 2 weeks. I've been in Tier 2 from 12 June 2014 as a university researcher for fixed-terms.
However, my current sponsor is not happy mention the work "foreseeable future" in the letter. They are only happy to write that "I am still required for the employment in question until 5Oct19". Well, my current contract is going to end in 5 months. I saw many people had asking similar question before but without anymore update on their application results.

I would like to ask, if 5 months more than ILR application date is okay enough? My bosses currently do not have further funding to extend me, so the HR is not able to state any possibility of extension in the letter. Is the statement above is okay enough or not? If my boss write a letter such as that "they are happy to keep me as long as they can get further funding", would this be helpful or not necessary? Is there any other thing I can ask HR to change?

All your suggestion are very valuable!

Many thanks & best regards,

Sunny

ILR will only be granted if your employer needs you for the foreseeable future. You cannot settle if the employer does not think they need you in the long run

Question about the date of first entering the UK

Hi All,

I am going to apply an ILR through 5 year Tier 2 route. On the application form, it asks "when did you first enter the UK". Shall I write the actual date I enter the UK, which is almost 9 years ago with a student visa, or shall I write the date when I started Tier 2 Visa?

Many thanks,
Sunny

Please DO NOT start new posts regarding your application :!: Stick to this post ONLY
You can enter either. It makes no difference but many choose to enter the first entry date. To reiterate what I said above, your employer letter stating they need you for the foreseeable future is a must :!:

Is it helpful if I ask my boss to write a separate letter that "they are happy to keep me in future once they find the further funding"?

Many thanks!

That is not up to me to determine. UKVI case workers will follow the rules and the rules require that your employer state they need you for the foreseeable future

Thanks Zimba!

My ILR is approved this morning! Eventually my PI wrote a letter for me with foreseeable future in it!

Hope my experience will be helpful to other people with similar situation!

Best,
Sunny
