Hi,
I came to UK on a tier 2 ICT in Sep 2010. I changed to tier 2 general dependent in 2016 when my wife got a tier2 general sponsorship in her job. I will complete 10 years in Sep 2020 and planning to apply for ILR after that. However I am planning to go in for further studies later this year. In case I change to tier 4 student visa since I am on a dependent visa I am required to go back to India and apply. My question is that in case I go for tier 4 visa will it reset my counter for the 10 year route? Any information would be appreciated.

PS: I know I can study on a dependent visa but in case my wife loses here job then I will be in a difficult situation and that's why thinking of Tier 4 student visa.

You have to apply from your home country if you want to switch to Tier 4 visa. It will not break your continues residency if you can manage to come back within 6 months and before your previous visa expires.
