Ancestry Visa Application

I'm in the process of applying for my ancestry visa but need help on one tricky topic I can't get my head around. Two years ago when applying for my British passport through my father, who was born in the UK, I was knocked back because at the time of my birth my parents were not married and haven't been married since. Since I am applying for my ancestry visa through my fathers side of the family will this be a problem again? I have read that children who are adopted can still claim ancestry through their adopted parents so surely that leaves me in the clear? Thanks

If your father is British born, why don't you register as British on form UKF?

Presumably your father is mentioned on your birth cert?

UKF registration costs £80 vs the Ancestry visa of £516 visa fee PLUS the £2000 Immigration Health Surcharge.

I've never heard of this type of application to be honest, I ended up just applying for my tier 5 youth mobility and didn't look into it any further. So after registering as british via the UKF form, would I then apply for a passport? Or what would be the next step?

Yes as you will then be a British citizen and once you have attended your ceremony and received your citizenship certificate you can apply for a passport, which is an extra cost.

There is also a full running thread of quite a few pages on the UKF application and experience, see below.

Thanks for the info! As i said before I'm on a tier 5 youth mobility scheme at the moment, if i was to apply for my citizenship now and didn't receive an answer before my current visa expired (late Spetember, 3 months) what would happen? As I wouldnt have my passport back from processing yet. Thanks.

When does your tier 5 expire?
