Need to apply for ILR in 5 months still haven't done Life in UK test

Hi I need some advice.

I am trying my best to start preparing for Life in UK test as I need to apply for indefinite leave in 5 months, I am on a 5 year partner route.

Worst case scenario I haven't passed in 5 months and submit IRL application. What happens? Does it application get put on hold indefinitely until I complete the test?

I just want to know as I am aiming to spend December prepping with official book and practice questions. I know I left it last minute but I completely forgot I had to do this test!

Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

If you haven't done the test by the time you apply, the HO would contact you and ask you to submit one in 28 days. If you don't, application would fail and you could be put on the 10 year route. You would need to pay NHS surcharge for this. If you have extant leave left, you could just renew your FLR. If and when you pass, you could vary it or apply for ILR immediately.

So the morale of this story is, try and pass. It could get expensive if you don't.
