Set (M) taking too long

Hello

I'm new here, hoping someone can give some advice.
Using this format that I found on the forum.

Applied for ILR Route : Set (M)
Date application sent : 16th November 2023
Document received by HO : 8th December 2023 (email)
Ack letter received (if applicable) :
Biometric Letter received :
Date Biometrics Enrolled : 8th December
Payment Debited : 16th November
Approval/Refusal Received : waiting
BRP Card Received : waiting

The application is for my wife who arrived in the UK in August 2018, im a British citizen by birth.
She started a new job a few months before our application, was unemployed since being made redundant in April but her old employer didn't give her a P60. We chased HR but they didn't reply.

I earn more than enough, so because I was able to get all the documents, I provided my details (payslip, reference letter from employer, bank statements, employment contract)

We also mentioned that we haven't been able to get hold of my wife P60 and provided her employment details.

At the time of the application, my wife was pregnant. We gave birth to a boy in January, but we provided hospital letters to provide proof with estimate date of arrival.

We also are trying to buy a property so in addition information we included letters from our solicitors acting on our behalf.

The email we got from UK visa and immigration office on the other December said "We have received your application and supporting information submitted on the 16th Nov 2023. Our aim is to provide a decision on your application by 16th May 2024.

If there is a delay with processing your application, or further information is required to make a decision on your application, we will contact you."

We've not heard from HO.
We have made a complaint by email
We have contacted our MP (they are waiting for HO to respond by 14th June)

Honestly what is going on?
Whys it taking this long? I had a look through the process times for Set(M) and I can see most ppl only waited 3months.

Help would be appreciated

We cannot tell you why or how or on what grounds. It could be due to many reasons. UKVI either has a backlog or they need to verify a few things or investigate something regarding this case before making a decision. I am afraid you can only wait and see

Just to provide an update in here.
We contacted our MP after 16th May and they made an enquiry. Parliament dissolved on the 30th May and therefore the MP Account Management team contacted my wife directly. They mentioned that a decision on her Indefinite Leave to Remain application was made on the 21st Feb 2024.
AND for some reason they said our BRP enquiry was forwarded to the relevant team on the 12 June.

We've never mentioned BRP, the closest is when we mentioned that we had our appointment to submit biometrics.

This is now hugely confusing and frustrating, we don't even know what decision was made. The visa immigration line was closed but every time I've called they haven't been able to tell me the status other than just wait.

Oh the email we received is from a no-reply inbox.

I've contacted our MP caseworker to see if she can find out her status.

And to confirm we definitely haven't received any email with a decision.

Not until you receive the decision you won't know what it is.

Finally after over 6 months we got a decision yesterday. Got approved for settled status.

Still annoyed at how long they've taken, not responding to any of our complaints.
I did put in a request for a SAR so will be interesting to see why they took so long to let us know now if they decided in Feb.

SAR is not going to show the reason for delays.
