I know this has been answered a few times here but please help me advise in this particular case.

My SOC code originally on my CoS issued 2 yrs ago, now points to a completely different job title so I have asked my employer to issue a letter stating the new updated SOC code from the 2020 SOC list.
My employer refused my request and gave me a letter which contains the SOC code as per my CoS. The reason they stated was that they want to be compliant and are not very comfortable issuing me a letter with a different SOC code from the one that is present in CoS. My salary is 50k so its beyond and above all the salary requirements.

My question is-

1) Will this be an issue? The old SOC code points to a completely different job title and is nowhere related to my job.
2) If I continue to use the letter from my employer, what SOC code should I enter in the ILR application form? New or Old?
3) Is it better to explain in a cover letter?

The Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes assigned to each role have been simply updated from the 2010 codes to the 2020 codes, so both your old SOC and the new 2020 SOC should effectively refer to the same role. You should use the 2020 SOC to determine your salary requirement for ILR. Enter your job title on the CASCOT occupation coding tool to find out the correct SOC 2020.

Your sponsor letter does not need to mention SOC code at all.

Regarding the eligibility date - my first T2 visa vignette start date was from 24 July 2020. Based on what I have learnt from this forum, I can apply for ILR application now and do my biometric on 26th June 2025 at the earliest? Am I right in my understanding?

Also I'm a bit curious to understand this more - I found some discussions outside this forum where people suggest to also consider the first T2 application date or first T2 biometric date for counting back 28 days for the ILR eligibility. Do you think its any relevant?

They are probably talking about the COVID concession for people who applied in the UK in 2020-21. This does NOT apply to people who got an entry clearance from outside the UK.
