Hi,

Both my wife and my son are on FLRM visa issued on 29-01-2021, they will be completing 5 years on FLRM visa on 29-01-2026.

Could you please advise me on the below

1) Am I right that both are eligible to apply ILR after completing 5 years on FLRM visa which will be 29-01-2026. Also am I right that they can apply for ILR 28 days in advance which will be 01-01-2026 ?
2) My spouse has completed Life in the UK test in 2023, am I right that she can use this during ILR application as the result has life long validity
3) My spouse has completed Grade 5 GESE CEFR Level B1.1 certification when applying for FLRM, am I right that this level of qualification is enough and can be reused for ILR ?
4) Am I right that both my spouse and son can apply for ILR in the same application, can a link to shared for ILR via FLRM route.
5) Once they obtain ILR, could you please advise if both my spouse and son can apply for naturalisation straight after getting ILR without waiting for an year's time. Please note that they are dependents of me and I am a British passport holder.
6) Finally, could you pleae advise if my son can skip the ILR process and directly apply for Naturalisation. My son was born abroad and is currently on FLRM visa, the same status as my spouse and I am a British citizen.

Thanks for your advice and help in advance.

1. They actually will be eligible for ILR within the 28 days of completing their 5 years
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Yes. One SET(M) application
5. Your spouse can apply to naturalise immediately after her ILR. Your son can be registered as British using form MN1 (children do NOT naturalise)
6. No. Non-UK born children do not have any automatic entitlement to British citizenship and they are normally expected to hold ILR for registration via discretion

Thank you very much for your responses, very much appreciated.

A couple of clarifications

4. Yes. One SET(M) application
Please could you share the link for SET(M) application

5. Your spouse can apply to naturalise immediately after her ILR. Your son can be registered as British using form MN1 (children do NOT naturalise)
Please clarify if registering as British using form MN1 means this is just online registeration and he dont have to provide biometrics etc., as you do for naturalisation. Does MN1 registration comes with cost ?

4. Google??? https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -form-setm

5. MN1 has a cost and biometrics must be done. Processing time is anywhere between a few weeks and 6 months.

Please ask your British citizenship questions in rhe correct sub forum, these questions are not relevant to the ILR sub forum.
