Hi,

If a WP holder has been working in UK for last 4.5 years and due to some reasons he leaves the job and goes back to India for an year or two and comes back on Tier 2 visa, does 5 year requirement for ILR starts from scratch or he can still get ILR after few years?

Please advice.

Thanks

Yes it starts from scratch, 5 yrs has to be continous. If he goes and comes back in a short period it should be fine though.

Can seniors please shed some light on how long a tier1 main applicant and dependant be outside the UK during this 5 yrs so that you can still qualify for ILR at end of 5 yrs. I thought it was like 3 - 6 months??

Total absent in 5 years=180
Total absent in last year=90

You are allowed to stay out of the country if absent is due to business reasons.
