my current spouse visa will expire in 27 months on 08-12-2010. My date of arrival in the country is 21-09-2008. Can any one suggest right time to apply for IRL. Also my application is quite straightforward so which method is better, by post or in person. In case in person then how early i can book in advance. Also i have given LIFE IN UK TEST. If it will remain valid for ever or i have to redo the test for my naturalization application

i thank you

1) 28 DAYS BEFORE EXPIRY OF YOUR SPOUSE VISA
2) IF ITS STRAIGHFORWARD THAN GO IN PERSON
3) BOOK APPOINTMENT ONLINE OR BY PHONE BETWEEN 5 TO 8 WEEKS IN ADVANCE
4) LIFE IN UK TEST HAS NO EXPIRY DATE SO YOU DONT NEED TO REDO THIS TEST.

GOOD LUCK
TIM

Nope! The earliest you can apply is 28 days before becoming eligible for ILR (i.e. - having lived in the UK for 2 years on a spouse visa). In other words, on/after 25-Aug-2010.

Tim555 was basing his reply on the old visa type which was only valid for 24 months, now visa's are issued for 27 months which mean you can apply for ILR 28 days before your 2 years since you entered the UK which means 25 -8 -10 or any time after that date
