Dear all,
I have been hearing that the ILR on the basis of long residency (10 years) will be stopped in april 2010. I can not find any reference to this in the government websites, but i heared this from many sources. Can any one confirm if this is true?
thank you

Nooby can tell that unless home office published on their web site or guidline.
In July 2011 all rules are going to change and We can assume this rule would change as well.
I also heard that both 10 years and 14 years rule would be scarped.
But all these are remours..No one can say anything .
Wait and see.

they're all rumours as of now but it can change.
Economically, this would be a bad decision to scrap this rule because the govt will end up losing more from illegal immigrants not paying their taxes etc. It would be better to document them and make them legal. Considering it costs £10,000 per illegal immigrant to deport and with the current deficit in the economy, this is the last thing they should be thinking about.
but then again, it all looks good for the elections.
