I'm on spouse visa that expires next year and we are struggling financialy at the moment. My husband has just lost his job and claiming benefits for the first time in his life. I'm also looking for work. We have 2 small children.
What I'm worried about is the fact that we have debt and struggling to pay it off in this financial situation. Will this in any way affect my ILR application next year? I'm not claiming anything and didn't try to. What if worst happens and one of us becomes bankrupt? Will that affect my application?

The Home Office are looking for proof that the relationship is continuing for the ILR to be issued. Monetary considerations are of secondary importance.
The issuance of the spousal visa is issued due to accommodation issues , monetary issues.
You should be OK as everybody knows that times are hard

Thanks for your reply mochyn. That's what I'm thinking but small part of me thinks what if. We've been together for 10yrs (we have proof of this) and have 2 children. My husband is English and both our children are and have British passports. I just hope they wont turn around and say because of your financial situation we think you can't look after yourselves so you can't stay....or along these lines anyway. Fingers crossed situation improves.
Anyone in similar finan situation that's been approved, I would love to hear from you.
