gap in residence??

Hi all,
I've been in the UK since September 1999, came as a student. I applied for a UK ancestry visa in 2005, but was refused because did not have all the documents and was applying while in the UK. I then applied for discretionary leave and was given leave for 3 years, until 2008. This was extended again in 2008, until 2011.
I want to apply for ILR, but not sure if there is a gap between the date I was refused the ancestry visa and the date I applied for discretionary leave.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!
