ILR for work permit - HSMP - Tier 1 combination

Hi
I came to UK in 2004 on work permit. After around 1.5 years I had to leave UK due to some family emergency back home. Later I came back in Dec 2005 on a different company's work permt. Again, staying for just 3 months, I got an offer for a dream job with a different company in Australia. So I left for Australia in March 2006. But after about 1.5 years, I got bored with the job and came back to UK in Nov 2007, on HSMP. Since then I have been in UK continuously (finaly

My question is , will my time in UK on work permit be considered towards my ILR eligibility criteria? Is there ANY CHANCE , any way out of this so that I could apply for my ILR soon or do I have to wait till 2012 to get ILR?
