I am applying ILR soon, to hear so many people having problems with their payment in the past, I am thinking if I should provide my card detail on the form, as well as submitting a cheque, with a paper note stapled on the top, saying:

"Please destroy this cheque if the card payment is successful, this cheque is for backup only"

Is this a good idea at all???

I'd think that a postal order would be more secure and eliminates the problem of you being doubly-charged. Remember this is UKBA. They're not as efficient as you might think.
